Actor Sonu Sood faced a deepfake incident recently. The actor chose not to ignore or let it affect him but to raise awareness about it. He emphasized the importance of addressing this issue, as many people, including celebrities, are falling victim to scams daily.
In the deepfake video, someone used Sood’s face to deceive others for money in the actor’s name. Sonu Sood, known for his philanthropy, revealed that numerous individuals mistakenly reached out to scammers using his name, leading to around 200 FIRs being filed across the country.
Taking a proactive approach, the 50-year-old actor took to X, formerly Twitter and informed his social media followers that his directorial debut film, Fateh, revolves around cybercrimes and fraudulent activities similar to the deepfake incident. Sood believes the movie will resonate with people who have experienced similar troubles.
Having written and directed Fateh, Samrat Prithviraj actor Sonu Sood considers this new journey as “special” and “personal.” He expressed the freedom to tell the story the way he wanted and address the issue appropriately. He shared his emotions with his fans through the Instagram post, where he shared his look and a glimpse of his direction.
The Team Behind the Film
Directed by Sonu Sood, the cast of Fateh includes Sonu Sood, Jacqueline Fernandez, Vijay Raaz, and Dibyendu Bhattacharya. It is helmed by Abhinandan Gupta. The film was shot last year in March. It will hit the theatres on 12th April 2024.

Despite challenges like the deepfake incident, Sood stays motivated by appreciation like the Champions of Change Award 2024, which he received recently. Such honours help him stay focused on his goals, even when faced with attacks on privacy and attempts to bring him down.

Many celebrities, from Rashmika Mandanna to Akshay Kumar, have faced this attack. Taylor Swift was a recent victim of deepfake, following which the U.S. Senate took the matter to cognizance.
