Kiran Rao is busy promoting her upcoming film Laapataa Ladies. Recently, Kiran, in an interview, revealed that her ex-husband, Aamir Khan, was deeply affected by the failure of his last film, Laal Singh Chaddha. Also, why the actor isn’t acting in her film Laapataa Ladies? Rao expressed disappointment, considering the extensive effort invested in the project.
Kiran Rao explained during the interview that the film was very precious; it had been a dream for Aamir, but it faced challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic and failed at the box office.
“It’s really disheartening when you put in all the effort, and it doesn’t work, which is what happened with Laal Singh Chaddha. And it definitely affected Aamir quite deeply. It affected all of us because it was a project that had seen so many stages; it had done the Covid-19 rollercoaster. It (Laal Singh Chaddha) had been a dream project for Aamir. He had been working on getting the rights for the script for a decade before we made it.”
After Laal Singh Chaddha was released on OTT, it received a positive response on social media. Despite that, Rao acknowledged that the film didn’t get the chance it deserved. She recognized the audience’s preference and acceptance, stating, “But it did not work, and we do have to accept the fact that the audiences did not like it or did not want to see it.”
