Actor Jacqueline Fernandez has lodged a complaint against alleged conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar, accusing him of harassing and threatening her from inside jail. She reported the case to Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora and also sent a letter to the Special Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch). A specialized unit has been directed to initiate a preliminary inquiry based on the complaint.
In the letter Jacqueline Fernandez wrote to the police chief titled “Systemic Failure in Prosecution Witness Protection,” Jacqueline expressed her concern about being unintentionally involved in a case with broader implications for the rule of law and the judicial system. She mentioned Sukesh, an accused in Mandoli Jail, is using intimidating tactics and threatening her openly.
Jacqueline urged the police commissioner to intervene immediately, citing threats to her safety and potential harm to the integrity of legal processes. She requested the registration of an FIR under IPC sections against Sukesh, ensuring her protection as a prosecution witness in a case under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA).
In her letter, Jacqueline emphasized that such actions not only violate her individual rights but also undermine the justice system’s core principles, particularly witness protection. She called for a thorough examination of communication channels available to the accused and stringent measures to prevent further abuse.
Regarding the Case
Jacqueline moved to a Delhi court in December seeking directions to restrain Sukesh from contacting her. She is a witness in the FIR investigated by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) related to a ₹200 crore money laundering and extortion case involving Sukesh.
