Amrit Bharat Station Scheme – The current Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, will lay the foundation stone for the redevelopment of more than 554 railway stations under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme 2024 across India through video conferencing on 26 February 2024. Under this scheme, the foundation stone for more than 1585 newly constructed roadways and RUV/LHS across the country was laid by Narendra Modi. The Amrit Bharat Station Scheme aims to develop various stations under the East Central Railway.

Under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, facilities for passengers will be further enhanced at these stations in the future, focusing on safety and accessibility.

Development works such as station building, entry and exit points, foot over bridges, concourses, platforms, circulating areas, parking, lighting systems, facilities for disabled persons, water systems, sanitation systems, seating arrangements, approach roads, signals and instruction boards, train display and announcement systems, beautification, etc., will be undertaken.

Additionally, newly constructed roads over bridges and underpasses will provide barrier-free and safe road traffic facilities.

The Amrit Bharat Station Scheme was initiated by the Indian Railway Board with the goal of rebuilding over 1000 small and large stations in a modernized manner. This scheme also includes the construction of city centres and roof plazas at railway stations to provide better facilities to passengers. Special provisions will be made for disabled persons at these modern stations. The scheme aims to improve and modernize all stations across the country.

Key Points of the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme

  1. Indian Railways will construct roof plazas and long platforms, provide 5G network connectivity, and implement ballast-less tracks at stations under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.
  2. A roadmap will be developed for the development of railway stations, outlining the facilities to be provided, and will be implemented according to the issued rules.
  3. All reconstruction projects are included under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, with a committee of senior railway officers overseeing station operations to ensure smooth implementation.
  4. Efforts are being made to complete low-cost reconstruction plans on time under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme 2024.
  5. The scheme involves modernizing old buildings to facilitate activities related to upper primary passengers and ensure the stations built through this project are fully modernized.

Cost of Railway Projects

Railway division projects have been incorporated into the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. Below is a detailed breakdown of the costs incurred:

  1. Deendayal Upadhyay Railway Board Projects

Under the Deendayal Upadhyay Mandal Project, development works will be initiated and inaugurated at an estimated cost of approximately Rs 715 crore. Additionally, under the Deendayal Upadhyay Railway Division Project, as part of the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, the following costs have been allocated:

  • Dehri on Son station: approximately Rs 16.12 crore
  • Bikramganj station: approximately Rs 12.5 crore
  • Hero station: approximately Rs 12.28 crore
  • Rafiganj station: approximately Rs 12.46 crore
  • Guraru station: approximately Rs 15.69 crore
  • Nabinagar station: approximately Rs 11.22 crore
  • Haider Nagar station: approximately Rs 12.95 crore
  • Mohammad Ganj station: approximately Rs 12.95 crore

Additionally, 11 overbridges and 18 underpasses will be renovated as part of the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Mandal Project.

  1. Projects of Danapur Railway Division

Development works will commence under the Danapur Railway Division Project at a cost of Rs 171 crore. Reconstruction work will be undertaken at the following costs under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme:

  • Lakhisarai station: approximately Rs 21.54 crore
  • Chausa station: approximately Rs 15.36 crore

Furthermore, three roads over bridges and six RUB/LHS will be inaugurated as part of the reconstruction.
