Standup comedian Munawar Faruqui, the winner of Salman Khan hosted reality show Bigg Boss 17, has apologized for something he said in one of his shows. Munawar on Monday apologized for what he had said about the Konkani people in Taloja, Mumbai.
The matter started increasing when a clip of a few seconds from his performance started going viral on social media. Munawwar Faruqui had said in his show that “Konkani Log Chu*** Banate Hai”.That means Konkani people fool.
Munawar Said- The Intention was not to Hurt
Faruqui had clarified that his joke was a part of crowd work, he had said that it is a very common practice that during standup comedy, the performer jokes on the audience while interacting with them.
While apologizing, Munawwar Faruqui has expressed regret for those whose sentiments have been hurt. Munawar Faruqui stated, “I have noticed that some people are getting hurt by my clip as a comedian; it was not my intention to hurt anyone.”
BJP MLA called Munawar a snake
Munawwar Faruqui said, “There were all the people on the show, there were Marathi people, there were Muslim people, there were Hindu people. But when we see such things on social media, and alternate them, then we understand what the matter is. I want to apologize and say sorry to everyone. Jai Hind, Jai Maharashtra.” Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Nitish Rane had reacted to this matter and threatened to say that it would not take much time for him to send a green snake-like Munawwar to Pakistan.
