Recently, news of the sexual assault of two four-year-old girls on a school premises by a male sanitation worker at their school has led to massive protests in Badlapur. Since this morning, protesters have gathered to demand justice and punish the culprit. Now Riteish Deshmukh has also given his strong reaction to this news and has demanded Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s law.
Riteish Deshmukh raised his voice against this crime on his X handle and demanded strict action against the culprit. The actor expressed his concern as a parent, saying that schools should be a safe place for children, just like their homes. Riteish also talked about how Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj used to punish such criminals during his time and demanded to implement such laws back in the future.
Riteish wrote, “As a parent, I am extremely disappointed, sad, and angry. Two 4-year-old girls were sexually assaulted by a male school sweeper. “Schools are considered as safe places for children as their own homes.”
The actor further wrote, “This monster should be given the harshest possible punishment. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in his time gave the culprits what they deserved – Chowrang – we need to re-implement these laws.”
The accused has been identified as Akshay Shinde, who has been charged under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act. He was arrested on August 17 and the complaint filed against him stated that he misbehaved with the girls in the school toilet.
Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray also spoke on the issue and said that the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government was about to pass the ‘Shakti Bill,’ but his government was ‘toppled’ by the current chief minister of Maharashtra, Eknath Shinde.
Earlier in the day, a massive protest was held at Badlapur Railway Station against the alleged sexual assault incident involving two minor girls at a school in Thane district.
Protestors blocked tracks, causing a halt in local trains while protesting against the alleged sexual assault. Incidents of stone pelting were also reported. Following this, police resorted to lathi-charge and tear gas to disperse the protestors.
