‘IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack’ actor Rajiv Thakur expressed his thanks to the comedian-actor Kapil Sharma. The IC 814 series actor revealed how Kapil postponed the U.S tour to encourage him to work on Anubhav Sinha’s Netflix series.
Comedian-actor Rajiv Thakur played the role of Ibrahim Akhtar, one of the hijackers in IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack. Rajiv shared to India Today, “He told me, ‘Tu series kar, hum show push Kar denge (You do the series, we will push the show)’ And that’s how our show was postponed to July.
I had already committed to him, so I would have rejected the show, but he pushed me, and I am thankful for that. This is what true friends do, isn’t it?” Rajiv had scheduling issues because he was already committed to a tour with Kapil Sharma, when Rajiv got the offer for ‘IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack’ came up. Rajiv shared that ‘The Great Indian Kapil Show’ host helped him to work on the series. Rajiv further said, “I remember Kapil also watching the show late at night after a shoot and immediately messaged Anubhav sir.
He called me the first thing the next morning and he sounded so happy and proud. I think this makes me so much happier.” Rajiv also told about how Archana Puran Singh was after watching the show. Archana also posted a message to share how much she enjoyed Rajiv’s performance in the Netflix show.
IC 814 is based on the December 24, 1999, hijacking of Indian Airlines IC-814 aircraft by five terrorists, which happened just 40 minutes after the plane took off from Kathmandu. The series featured Vijay Verma, Rajiv Thakur, Naseeruddin Shah, Manoj Pahwa, Kumud Mishra, Arvind Swami, Patralekhaa, Dia Mirza, and Amrita Puri. Rajiv played the role of ‘Ibrahim Akhtar’, chief in the series. Actor Rajiv Thakur known for appearing on Kapil Sharma’s comedy show has been praised for his role as a villain in IC 814: ‘The Kandahar Hijack’. The series is available for streaming on Netflix.
Many people have expressed their dissatisfaction using hashtags like # BoycottNetflix, # BoycottBollywood, and # IC814. However the situation was brought under control after Netflix India issued a new disclaimer for the series which read, “For the benefit of audiences unfamiliar with the 1999 hijacking of Indian Airlines Flight 814,the opening disclaimer has been updated to include the real and code names of the hijackers”, stated Vice President Shergill of Netflix India.
Meanwhile, Kapil Sharma’s ‘The Great Indian Kapil Show is all set to return on Netflix with a new season along with Kapil, Rajiv, Sunil Grover, Archana Puran Singh, Krushna Abhishek and Kiku Sharda.
