For the past few weeks, Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has been in the news regarding his blackbucks hunting case. Veteran screenwriter Salim Khan, who is the father of Salman Khan, has returned to his son’s defense in the protracted trial in the 1998 blackbuck poaching case.

In a recent interview, Salim Khan made it clear that Salman was not present in the alleged torture case and therefore should not apologize for anything he did not do. This bold statement has revived the controversy surrounding the troubled Salman Khan case for over two decades.

Extra security for Salman Khan

Salman Khan convicted of two blackbucks during the filming of Hum Saath Saath Hain in Rajasthan in 1998 in 2018. Despite several appeals and legal cases, the actor’s name has been bound and faced with controversy criticism has come from various quarters, such as animal rights activists. However, in Salim Khan’s last words, he steadfastly maintains his son’s innocence.

“Salman was not even there at the scene when this incident took place. People keep blaming him, but they do not know the full story. If he wasn’t present, why should he apologize? It doesn’t make sense,” said the veteran writer, who is known for his frank and forthright views.

“Why should he apologize?” – Salim Khan

Salim Khan has long been a fierce defender of his son, and his recent speech sheds light on a question that has lingered since the story began. If Salman Khan is not physically involved in the search for the endangered black goat, should he be held accountable, or more importantly, forced to publicly apologize for it?

According to Salim Khan, the issue of the black goat case is often misrepresented. “There are a lot of facts that people don’t know, but in our society, the story is picked up and spread without understanding all sides. Salman has been the target of this case for years, but justice should be done on the basis of evidence, not public opinion, he doesn’t even kill cockroach” he said.

Salim Khan’s latest comments come as many wonder how Bollywood stars are often judged in the court of public opinion, even before the legal process is finally over. Controversies that force celebrities to apologize or face backlash — sometimes even beyond their control — have become familiar, and Salim Khan seems to be pushing back against that trend.

We are moving forward

While Salman Khan continues to seek legal action against black goat poaching, the controversy remains a point of contention among his family and fans. For now, Salim Khan’s recent comments have added another layer to the ongoing discussions, highlighting the actor’s ongoing battle to clear his reputation.

As Bollywood’s “Bhai” continues to grow in popularity and continues to deliver hit movies, his legal struggles follow him and yet, as Salim Khan insisted, his apology — to no avail absolutely in his father’s eyes — as if it were absurd. Whether or not this will have an impact on public opinion or future court proceedings remains to be seen, but one thing is for sure: the Salman Khan vs. Blackbuck saga is far from over.
