After the film ‘The Kerala Story’, the stars of actress Adah Sharma have changed. Now she is living the era that she had dreamed of when she made her debut in Hindi cinema 16 years ago. Her web series ‘Reeta Sanyal’, recently released on Disney Plus Hotstar, is also a part of that dream. Deepesh Pandey had a special conversation with Ada about her show and her change phase.

Where do you find yourself now compared to the dreams with which you made your debut 16 years ago with the film ‘1920’?

When ‘1920’ became a hit and got a lot of love from the audience, I thought that the next day I would get projects like ‘Reeta Sanyal’, ‘The Kerala Story’, and ‘Bastar’, which did not happen. It took so many years to achieve the things that I had dreamed of achieving in two days, but I am happy that those dreams are now being fulfilled.

After ‘The Kerala Story’, is it a conscious strategy to carry forward the projects mostly on your shoulders?

This is not a strategy, but it is a great thing for me that after ‘The Kerala Story’ people have faith in me. Projects are being made keeping me at the center. Next I am going to do the sequel of a very big film. My only effort is that the role I am playing in the project is well written and people remember it.

What were the challenges of coming and presenting so many different looks in ‘Rita Sanyal’?

As an actor, it is your dream to play characters with different looks. I got to do so much in one project. I have ten looks in this show including Reeta Sanyal’s look. There are many strange looks including food inspectors, security guards, prostitutes, fish sellers, and actresses.

It has been my endeavor that not only the hairstyle and makeup should be different in every look but also the body language and style of conversation should be different. I consider myself lucky that this is my third film this year after the film ‘Bastar: The Naxal Story’ and the web series ‘Sunflower’.

‘Bastar: The Naxal Story’ could not make much impact at the ticket window, what was the impact of its failure?

As an actress, I can only do my work, I feel happy when my films get good reviews and my work is appreciated. Rest some things are not in our hands. I am only concerned with my work and how I can make it better.
