On Kaun Banega Crorepati, the host Amitabh Bachchan is fan’s favourite due to his comic conters and personal anecdotes. Recently the hot seat was graced by Boman Irani and Farah Khan. They shared how they became friends. And shared anecdotes of each other.

Talking with actor Boman Irani, Big B remembered the late Ratan Tata, an industrialist known not only for his business acumen but also for his down-to-earth nature. Bachchan’s admiration was clear as he shared a few tales that highlighted Tata’s humility. “Kya aadmi the sir, mein bata nahi sakta.” Bachchan said, recalling Tata’s unique, unpretentious charm.

Bachchan recounted an incident where he discovered that he and mr. Ratan Tata was flying in same plane. When they landed at Heathrow, Tata, surprisingly, couldn’t find the people who were supposed to pick him up. Recounting the incident he shared, “Ab jo log unko lene aaye the woh chale gaye honge aur dikhe nahi unhe. Toh he went into the phone booth to call. I was also standing outside. Thodi der baad wo aaye and I can’t believe that he said this! ‘Amitabh, can I borrow some money from you? I don’t have money to make a phone call!” The simplicity of the request amused Bachchan.

Bachchan then shared another story that showcased Tata’s modesty even further. After attending an event with some friends, Tata asked one of them, “Can you drop me home? I live just behind your house.” Bachchan expressed his surprise at how Tata, one of the wealthiest people in the country, didn’t have a car arranged for him. He simply chose to ask a friend for a ride back home, showing once again that his humility was as significant as his accomplishments.
