Filmmaker SS Rajamouli addressed his regret over losing an opportunity to work with actor Suriya at a promotional event for ‘Kanguva’ in Hyderabad on Thursday. Rajamouli was the chief guest at the event of ‘Kanguva.’ ‘Kanguva’ is the most expensive movie of Suriya’s career.
In a video from the event, Rajamouli stated, “At an earlier function, Suriya mentioned that he missed an opportunity, but it was actually I who missed it because I admire him so much. I love his acting and his on-screen presence.”
Rajamouli seems to be returning the favour Suriya offered nearly 10 years ago. Suriya volunteered to support the Tamil Nadu promotions of Baahubali: The Beginning. Suriya attended the trailer launch event for Baahubali in Chennai.
Suriya had said at the time, “I told Rajamouli sir, that even if I can be useful for this movie in a small way, please involve me. So, he invited me to this event. I am happy, even though I have not acted in the movie.”
‘Kanguva,’ set to be the most expensive movie of Suriya’s career, is a period drama set about 700 years ago, revolving around rivalries between tribal groups who worship different deities.
‘Kanguva’ is about more than just Suriya’s dual role. The film also stars Bobby Deol, Disha Patani, Yogi Babu, Natarajan Subramaniam and many more. On the other hand, SS Rajamouli is currently working on his next movie with Mahesh Babu, SSMB29 or SSRMB. The shooting of this film is expected to start in January 2025.
