Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor made his debut with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Saawariya’ in 2007. Now, 17 years later, Ranbir is reuniting with the filmmaker for ‘Love and War’ co-starring Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal. At the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa on Sunday, the actor revealed Sanjay Leela Bhansali has not changed over the years.
Describing Sanjay Leela Bhansali as his “godfather,” Ranbir Kapoor shared his excitement about the project at IFFI. Ranbir said, “I am extremely excited. He is my godfather. Everything I know about acting, it is something I learnt from him.”
Ranbir continued, “He hasn’t changed at all. He is extremely hard-working. All he thinks about is his movies. He just wants to speak about the character, he wants you to create, do something.”
The reunion with Sanjay Leela Bhansali is meaningful as it coincides with the 100th birth anniversary of Ranbir’s grandfather, the legendary Raj Kapoor. Ranbir talked about his ongoing efforts to restore the films of Raj Kapoor, alongside NFDC, NFAI, his uncle Kunal Kapoor, and the film Heritage Foundation.
Notably, the organizers have included a tribute program to honor the 100th birth anniversaries of four Indian cinema legends: actor-filmmaker Raj Kapoor, director Tapan Sinha, Telugu cinema star Akkineni Nageswara Rao (ANR), singer Mohammed Rafi, as per Variety.
Rumours suggest that Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal will play Indian Armed Forces officers in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Love and War’. According to a report in Pinkvilla, shooting for ‘Love and War’ began with Ranbir Kapoor in November.
The film will be shot across various locations in India over the span of a year, with a planned schedule from November 2024 to October 2025. ‘Love and War’ will release in theatres on 20th March 2026.
