Bollywood’s legendary actor Dharmendra, who recently celebrated his 89th birthday, is now facing legal trouble. Just two days after his birthday, the actor was summoned by Delhi’s Patiala House Court in connection with an alleged fraud case linked to the ‘Garam Dharam Dhaba’ franchise.
Why Was Dharmendra Summoned?
The summons was issued following a complaint by Delhi-based businessman Sushil Kumar, who alleged that he was misled into investing in a franchise. According to the complaint, Kumar was approached in April 2018 and offered the opportunity to open a ‘Garam Dharam Dhaba’ outlet on NH-24/NH-9 in Uttar Pradesh.
The businessman claims he was promised significant profits after being told about the successful branches of the restaurant chain in Connaught Place, Delhi, and Murthal, Haryana. He was assured that these outlets earned ₹70-80 lakh in monthly revenue and was encouraged to invest ₹41 lakh with a promised 7% profit share.
Judicial Magistrate Yashdeep Chahal issued the summons after hearing the case. The next hearing for the matter is scheduled for February 20, 2025.

For the celebration, Dharmendra wore a brown shirt, black jacket, and blue jeans. His wife, actress Hema Malini, shared a heartfelt birthday post for him, while daughter Esha Deol also posted a special message for her father.
