‘Punjab 95’ Will Not Release on February 7

Diljit took to Instagram to share a heartfelt update about his film. “It saddens us to share this, but the release of Punjab 95 on February 7 has been postponed due to circumstances beyond our control,” he wrote. This news left fans disheartened as they eagerly awaited the biopic’s release.

Trailer Removed from YouTube

Just a week ago, Diljit had released the trailer of Punjab 95 on social media, announcing its global release date. The post, captioned “The full movie, no cuts,” had fans thrilled. The trailer amassed over 300,000 views in just 20 hours. However, in a shocking turn of events, the trailer was later removed from YouTube in India. Viewers were met with a message stating, “This video is unavailable in your country.” This incident added fuel to the ongoing debate over censorship.

A Biopic on Human Rights Activist Jaswant Singh Khalra

Punjab 95 is a biographical drama based on the life of Jaswant Singh Khalra, a human rights activist who exposed cases of human rights violations in Punjab during the 1990s. Diljit plays the lead role, portraying Khalra’s courageous fight for justice. The film, however, has been caught in censorship struggles, which have now delayed its release.
