On February 14, news broke that popular podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia was missing from his Mumbai residence. The Mumbai and Guwahati Police had arrived at his home to record his statement, but they could not reach him. Multiple outlets reported that he was untraceable by the authorities at the time. The next day, on February 15, Allahbadia, widely known for his BeerBiceps podcast, addressed the situation on his Instagram. He confirmed that he and his team were cooperating fully with the police and other authorities. “I will follow due process and be available to all agencies,” he stated.

The controversy surrounding Allahbadia stemmed from his recent appearance on the comedy show India’s Got Latent, where he made a controversial remark. The comment sparked widespread outrage on the internet, leading to charges of obscenity and offending public morality. Allahbadia, in his Instagram post, admitted that his words were inappropriate and hurtful. He took full responsibility for his actions and issued an apology, acknowledging the insensitivity of his statement. He expressed regret for any harm caused by his words.

However, the situation took a darker turn as Allahbadia revealed that he had been receiving death threats, not only aimed at him but also targeting his family. He shared his fears, stating, “They want to kill me and hurt my family.” In a shocking revelation, he disclosed that those behind the threats had even invaded his mother’s clinic. Posing as patients, they used the opportunity to intimidate his family. Allahbadia’s tone reflected his distress as he said, “I’m feeling scared and I don’t know what to do.”

Despite the mounting pressure and the threats, Allahbadia reassured his followers that he was not fleeing from the authorities. He made it clear that he had full faith in India’s judicial system and would follow the legal process. Allahbadia’s comments and the subsequent backlash had already drawn significant public attention, but the situation escalated further when former WWE wrestler and Mahabharat actor Saurav Gurjar, also known as Sanga, weighed in on the matter. In a video shared on X, Gurjar strongly condemned Allahbadia’s remarks, stating that they should not be tolerated under any circumstances. He emphasized that freedom of speech does not give anyone the right to disrespect societal values and religion.

Gurjar issued a direct threat to Allahbadia, warning that if they crossed paths, even his security would not be able to protect him. He was quoted as saying, “If I meet him anywhere in Mumbai… no one, including his security, can save him from me for what he said on the show.” The intensity of Gurjar’s words added fuel to the already heated debate surrounding Allahbadia’s controversial statement.

The controversy has also prompted legal actions. A formal complaint was filed on February 10 against not just Allahbadia but also social media influencer Apoorva Mukhija, comedian Samay Raina, actor Jasprit Singh, Ashish Chanchlani, and the organizers of India’s Got Latent. The complaint, lodged with both the Mumbai Commissioner and the Maharashtra Women’s Commission, accused the individuals involved of using abusive language during the show, further fueling the public outrage.
