Music composer Vishal Dadlani, currently a judge on Indian Idol 15, has spoken about the controversy surrounding YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia and comedian Samay Raina on India’s Got Latent. Calling the backlash exaggerated, he suggested it was more about controlling digital content in India. Dadlani, who has been a panelist on the show, took to Instagram on February 18 to express his views.

Referring to Allahbadia’s controversial question, he sarcastically asked if people would rather let Samay Raina touch their arms daily or do it once to end the “hypocritical prudish nonsense.” He indicated that the outrage was being used to justify tighter control over online content. He also pointed out that the authorities had long attempted to regulate digital platforms and were now using public outrage to achieve that. Further, he questioned whether people even remembered more significant issues like the Kumbh Mela stampede deaths.

The controversy erupted after Allahbadia’s remarks on the show received severe backlash from the public and political figures. Allahbadia, widely known as BeerBiceps, had appeared as a guest along with Apoorva Mukhija, Ashish Chanchlani, and Jasprit Singh. Following the outrage, Raina decided to remove all episodes of India’s Got Latent from YouTube. Allahbadia also issued an apology on social media, but the controversy continued to grow.

As the situation escalated, Raina, who is currently on an international tour, requested an extension from Maharashtra Cyber Cell to appear before them. Meanwhile, Allahbadia has not yet responded to the summons. Amidst this, stand-up comedian Tanmay Bhat posted a cryptic video on Instagram, leaving followers speculating about its meaning.

In the clip, Bhat is seen dancing in slow motion to the song Ranjha from Shershaah. His friend Naveed Manakkodan appears alongside him. The caption read, “Me watching the news every day,” suggesting a subtle reaction to the ongoing drama. Though Bhat did not directly address the controversy, many viewers interpreted the video as a response. Some speculated he was commenting on the situation, while others believed he was relieved not to have been involved. One user remarked, “When you see your friends going through the same phase you were in 10 years ago.” While another joked, “Tanmay to samay: ye khel main pehle khel chuka hu.”

Currently, Samay Raina and Ranveer Allahabadia is going through an intense legal procedure due to the comments made by Ranveer in India’s Got Latent.
