Terence Lewis Speaks on Reality Shows Being Scripted: Famous choreographer Terence Lewis, who gained immense popularity as a judge on Dance India Dance, is making headlines for his latest interview. Having judged dance reality shows for several years, he addressed the burning question—are reality shows scripted?
During the interview, Terence openly admitted that certain aspects of reality shows are pre-planned. He stated, “People often ask whether these shows are scripted, and the answer is yes. Conversations between guests and contestants are planned in advance.”
When Terence Danced with Deepika Padukone
In an interview with Pinkvilla, Terence was shown a picture of himself dancing with Deepika Padukone on the sets of Dance India Dance Little Masters, where she had come to promote Chennai Express. Reacting to the moment, he revealed, “People assume that we voluntarily dance with guests, but the truth is, we are asked to create these moments. These interactions are scripted.”
Terence further explained that while dance performances, judging, and talent evaluation remain authentic, promotional segments and viral moments are often scripted. He recalled being instructed to create a special moment with Deepika on stage, though she was unaware of the plan and had to improvise on the spot.
Do Judges Invite Actresses on Stage?
Addressing a common trend in reality shows where judges invite actresses on stage, Terence revealed, “It is completely scripted. I have never personally invited any guest or contestant on stage in my 8-year judging career.”
He also mentioned that TRP (Television Rating Points) plays a major role in these scripted moments, and once, when he resisted, the producers showed him data proving that such lighthearted interactions attract more viewers.
