Amar Singh Chamkila, Imtiaz Ali’s directorial, finally got its release date. The movie is based on a renowned Punjabi Rock singer featuring Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra.

The movie will be released only on Netflix for online streaming. The platform shared the news in a collaboration post with Diljit Dosanjh. Amar Singh Chamkila will be available from April 12 for online streaming. There is no theatre release for the film.

The Film will Feature Live Singing

Amar Singh Chamkila will be the first film to showcase the live singing of the artists in the film. Diljit will be seen playing Amar Singh Chamkila, and Parineeti Chopra as the wife of Amar Singh Chamkila and singing partner. The duo will be seen singing live in akhadas in the film. The biopic is planned to showcase a reel that connects the audience with reality; hence, to capture the rawness of the singer, the duo has been recorded singing live from the locations.

The music in the film was sung by AR Rahman, and the lyrics were written by Irshad Kamil. The film is directed by Imtiaz Ali and produced by Mohit Choudhary, Select Media Holdings LLP, Saregama, and Window Seat Films.
