Bawaal star Janhvi Kapoor has taken over the role of Sita in the upcoming film Ramayana, directed by Nitish Kumar. Ramayana will be their second film together as the duo has worked together in Bawaal, starring Varun Dhawan in the lead, released last year.
Following the OTT release of Bawaal, director Nitish Tiwari has started preparations for his next film, Ramayana. Initially, Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi were set to play the roles of Ram and Sita. However, recent reports indicate that Janhvi Kapoor has replaced Sai Pallavi in the role of Sita. It’s yet to be clarified if Sai was replaced by the filmmakers or if she chose to quit the role herself. Also, Janhvi’s casting is yet officially unannounced. However, a source has confirmed First Post about Kapoor playing Sita in the film.
Ranbir Kapoor to Play Ram
Ranbir Kapoor is set to portray the character of Ram in the upcoming film Ramayana, gaining attention after his recent role in Animal. The film was highly controversial, the reason being Ranbir Kapoor’s character. Now it will be really exciting to watch him play the idol lord Ram. Sunny Deol is confirmed for the role of Hanuman.
Alia was Approached to Play Opposite Ranbir
Initially, there were suggestions of Alia Bhatt playing Sita, but she had to step down due to scheduling conflicts. Then Sai Pallavi was considered for the role of Sita, but now Janhvi Kapoor has reportedly accepted the offer to play Sita. This decision was influenced by director Nitesh Tiwari’s previous collaboration with Janhvi in the film Bawaal, where he found her suitable for the character of Sita.
The Cast of “Ramayana”
While an official announcement from the film’s makers is pending, the cast currently includes Ranbir Kapoor as Ram, Vijay Sethupathi as Vibhishan, and Sunny Deol as Hanuman. The anticipation for Ranbir Kapoor’s portrayal of the revered character of Ram is high, especially after his recent performance as an Alpha Male in Animal.
