Emraan Hashmi will portray freedom fighter Ram Manohar Lohia in a new movie called “Ae Watan Mere Watan,” a historical thriller with Sara Ali Khan as the lead.

The film is set to be released on March 21st which will take us down to the alley of the dark past of India. The movie will feature the significant Quit India Movement held in 1942, marking history with the slogan “Angrezon Bharat Chhodo” (English Quit India).

The movie makers and Emraan Hashmi revealed his first appearance as the freedom fighter Ram Manohar Lohia in the film Ae Watan Mere Watan. Emraan’s character, Ram Manohar, played a crucial role in establishing and running the underground radio.

Ram Manohar Lohia was a key figure in the Quit India Movement who faced imprisonment and torture for his dedication to India’s fight against British rule. He helped start the Congress Socialist Party and worked as an editor for Congress Socialist. He was the man behind the idea of Sapta Kranti.

The poster shows Emraan in a blue Nehru jacket, white Nehru topi, black spectacles, and a raised fist, perfectly capturing Lohia’s look. While revealing the look of the character, Emraan Hashmi and makers captioned the post “channeling the fearless voice of independence!”

Ae Watan Mere Watan Honors Usha Mehta

The film honors Usha Mehta, played by Sara Ali Khan, who used an underground radio during the 1942 Quit India Movement.

The film is produced by Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, and Somen Mishra. It is an Amazon Original Movie which is directed by Kannan Iyer.

The film, featuring Sachin Khedekar, Abhay Verma, Sparsh Shrivastav, Alexx O’Neil, and Anand Tiwari along with Sara Ali Khan portraying the lead character of Usha Mehta and Emraan Hashmi as Ram Manohar Lohia.

The film premieres on Prime Video on March 21. It will be available in Hindi with dubbing in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada across 240+ countries and territories.
