Bollywood actor and politician Urmila Matondkar (50) and businessman and model Mohsin Akhtar Mir (40) got married in 2016 in an intimate ceremony at her Mumbai residence. Now, Urmila Matondkar has apparently filed for divorce after eight years of marriage with Mohsin Akhtar Mir.

Urmila Matondkar and Mohsin Akhtar Mir met each other through their mutual friend and fashion designer Manish Malhotra. Their marriage was a close-knit ceremony with Manish Malhotra as one of the few in attendance from the film industry.

Urmila Matondkar entered politics in 2019 as a part of the Indian National Congress and then in 2020, she joined the Shiv Sena. On screen, Urmila was also last seen in a song Bewafa Beauty in the 2018 film ‘Blackmail’. She was also seen on TV as a judge for a kids dance reality show. Mohsin is into Kashmiri embroidery and kaarigari and is associated with Malhotra’s fashion label.

Mohsin Akhtar Mir, originally from Kashmir, had moved to Mumbai to pursue his dreams in the film industry when he was just 21 years old. He appeared in Bollywood films such as It’s A Man’s World (2009), Luck by Chance (2011), and B.A Pass (2012). Though he had a few acting credits, Mohsin eventually shifted his focus towards business and became associated with fashion designer Manish Malhotra’s fashion label.

Rumours about their divorce have been doing the rounds on social media. The source said, “After careful consideration, Urmila has decided to call it quits on her marriage with Mohsin. She was already filed for divorce in court. While the reason behind the separation is still not known, the divorce isn’t happening on mutual terms”.
