John Abraham has been a prominent figure in Hindi cinema for the past two decades and is considered one of the top stars in the industry. Despite his extensive work and success in films like Vicky Donor, Madras Cafe, and Batla House, John feels that producers still don’t fully trust him. Even after proving himself with successful projects, he struggles to convince studio heads to support his films, leading to difficulties in securing funding and managing budgets.
Studio Heads Still Don’t Fully Trust Me: John
In a conversation with Ranveer Allahbadia, John discussed these challenges. He said, “I’ve produced films like Vicky Donor and Madras Cafe and worked on projects like Batla House. Yet, I still have to convince studio heads to believe in my vision and finance my films. They don’t trust me 100% and often tell me the budget is too high.”
What Did John Say About His Fees?
John also spoke about his fees, clarifying that he doesn’t charge more than he deserves. He believes that his fees never impact the film’s budget because if the film makes money, he benefits as well. “As an actor, my fees never dominate the film’s budget. I don’t want to burden the film. So, I charge according to my worth and my standards, and I’m very proud of my content,” John explained.
Studio Heads Don’t Respond: John
John further shared that sometimes studio heads don’t respond to his calls, largely because he doesn’t use WhatsApp. He recounted, “I don’t use WhatsApp; I send messages but often don’t get a reply for a long time. Once, I messaged a studio head who said he’d get back to me, but it took 4 to 5 months without any response. I wasn’t upset, but I think I deserve at least a reply. I feel that if people had a little more faith in me, I could contribute to changing Indian cinema. I’m not claiming to be a game-changer, but I’d like to try.”
