Killer Soup released today, 11 January on Netflix is too hot and sizzling for fans who love creepy, shady, mysterious, and full of thrill content, or call it a crime series, created and directed by Abhishek Chaubey.
The story revolves around Swati Shetty, played by Konkona Sen Sharma, who is a home chef with big dreams but not much cooking talent. Swati comes up with a tricky plan to swap her husband, Prabhakar, portrayed by Manoj Bajpayee, with her lover, Umesh, also played by Bajpayee. However, this cunning plot takes an unexpected turn, causing chaos and involving a not-so-smart detective and a bunch of inexperienced criminals.
The series Is full of bizarre events. As more characters meet their demise, the impact of each death, both literally and figuratively, leaves a lasting mark on those who survive. The show is set in a fictional hill town in Tamil Nadu, and outside a mortuary, there’s a Latin sign that says, “Mortui vivos docent” (“the dead teach the living”). However, the living in this town seems to struggle to grasp the lessons from the departed. Despite their desperate attempts, they often fail to shake off the weight of those who have passed away.
In this unusual setting, Killer Soup unfolds its intriguing storyline. The series dives into the complexities of life and death, where the departed continue to influence the living in unexpected ways. The show challenges the characters to confront the mysteries and consequences of mortality, creating a gripping narrative filled with suspense and dark humor.
The series is partly inspired by a real-life incident. In 2017, a woman In Telangana killed her husband and disguised her lover as her deceased spouse.
Their scheme unraveled when a significant difference in their food preferences, specifically a bowl of mutton soup, came to light. Interestingly, the original criminals reportedly got the idea from a movie called Yevadu(2014), starring Allu Arjun, where identity-switching played a major role– showing how cinema can influence real-life events.
