Emraan Hashmi Opens Up About Son’s Cancer Battle: Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi, often known for his on-screen persona, revealed a deeply personal chapter of his life that left his fans emotional. During a candid conversation on YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia’s podcast The Ranveer Show, the actor shared how his life took a dark turn when his young son Ayaan was diagnosed with cancer in 2014.

Hashmi described the harrowing experience that began during a brunch outing at Mumbai’s Taj Lands End Hotel. “It was January 2014. We were enjoying brunch when Ayaan told his mother he wasn’t feeling well. He had blood in his urine. That’s when our happy day turned into a nightmare,” he recalled.

Within three hours, they were at the doctor’s clinic. “Tests confirmed that Ayaan had cancer. The next day, he had surgery, followed by intense chemotherapy,” Hashmi said.

“Our Family Was Not Prepared for This”

Emraan admitted that the diagnosis hit them like a bolt from the blue. “There had never been any such illness in our family. Life was going well — career, marriage, parenthood — everything seemed perfect. And then, suddenly, everything collapsed,” he shared.

At just three years and ten months old, Ayaan was thrown into a battle no child should ever face. The actor revealed that while Ayaan, now 15, doesn’t remember much of that time, the trauma has likely left a mark on his subconscious.

A Father’s Pain Immortalized in a Book

Emraan Hashmi later channeled his pain into writing a book based on this experience. “I wrote it to help other parents going through similar struggles. It was incredibly painful to relive those memories. Even today, it’s hard for me to read it,” he confessed, adding that one day his son might read it too — but not yet.

The actor’s story is a reminder that behind the glitz and glamour, many celebrities face challenges that are deeply human and heart-wrenching.
