Bollywood actress Rhea Chakraborty, recently in her latest podcast with Aamir khan opens up about the post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) she has been battling since the tragic death of her boyfriend, actor Sushant Singh Rajput, in June 2020. Rhea detailed her journey through grief, public scrutiny, and the emotional aftermath that led to her PTSD diagnosis. Her podcast guest, Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan publicly commending her strength and resilience.

Rhea Chakraborty’s Struggles with PTSD

Rhea and Sushant were dating each other around 2019. They allegedly had an on-and-off relationship. She was with him in his last days. Sushant died on 14 June 2020 by suicide. The lack of mental health awareness in the general public lead to online conspiracy theories flying around that Rhea has something to do with Sushant’s death. Thus, Rhea Chakraborty was witch-hunted by everyone, the media, public, police and even Sushant’s family. Sushant’s father fired an FIR against her.

Speaking openly for the first time in nearly four years, Rhea Chakraborty described how Sushant Singh Rajput’s death left an indelible mark on her life. ” I faced Depression and PTSD, it took me so long to start Chapter 2,” she said. “The media trial, the public accusations, and the intense scrutiny added to the overwhelming grief I was already experiencing.” Rhea shared that the days and months following Sushant’s passing were some of the darkest of her life.

The actress, who was at the center of a media frenzy after being accused of abetment to suicide and drug-related charges, said that the public’s judgment and the intense spotlight on her personal life exacerbated her mental health struggles. “It was as if the world had decided my fate without knowing the truth,” she reflected. “The hate, the trolls, the accusations—it was unbearable.”

Aamir Khan, the Bollywood superstar who was a guest in her podcast praised Rhea on her bravery and strength.
