Is ‘Baby John’ Turning into a ₹100 Crore Disaster for Atlee?
The action-thriller Baby John, helmed by renowned South Indian filmmaker Atlee, seems to be underperforming at the box office. Made on a hefty budget of ₹160 crore, the film, starring Varun Dhawan, Keerthy Suresh, and Wamiqa Gabbi, has only managed to rake in ₹28 crore in its first five days.
According to a report by India Herald, if this trend continues, the movie may struggle to cross ₹60 crore in total earnings, leaving the makers with a staggering ₹100 crore loss. This comes as a major shock considering Atlee’s previous success with Jawan, which amassed ₹1,160 crore globally.
Atlee’s Bollywood Gamble After ‘Jawan’
Atlee, celebrated for delivering South Indian blockbusters, had a smashing Bollywood debut with Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan. However, his second Bollywood project, Baby John, hasn’t lived up to expectations. Critics believe the film’s slow pace and lackluster storyline might be the reasons for its poor reception.
Varun Dhawan’s Recent Work and Upcoming Projects
Varun Dhawan was last seen in the web series Citadel: Honey Bunny, alongside Samantha Ruth Prabhu. Up next, he will share the screen with Janhvi Kapoor in Tulsi Kumari, directed by Sunny Sanskari. Fans are hopeful for a strong performance in his upcoming ventures.
Keerthy Suresh’s Wedding Grabs Attention
While Baby John struggles at the box office, its lead actress Keerthy Suresh recently made headlines for her personal life. She tied the knot with her longtime boyfriend Antony on December 12. The couple shared their wedding pictures on Instagram, garnering love and wishes from fans worldwide.
