CIFF 2024: The CIFF Cinevesture International Film Festival is set to make history as it will be the first global-scale cinema event to be held in Chandigarh. The event will take place from March 27 to 31. With over 67 titles, the film festival promises a diverse lineup, including world cinema, Indian feature films, classics, and short films.
French Drama The Taste of Things features as a CIFF Opener
The show will feature French culinary drama The Taste of Things, to kick off the festival, which stars Juliette Binoche and is directed by Tran Anh Hung who is also the winner of the best director prize at Cannes.
The event will be closed by South Korea’s 2024 highest-grossing film, the horror drama Exhuma (‘Pamyo’).
16 Indie Films and Timeless Classics from Satyajit Ray and Guru Dutt
CIFF has a wide variety of projects to showcase, such as 24 award-winning international features in World Cinema. There are 16 special independent films showcased in the India Unveiled section, 27 shorts in Brief Encounters, a curated selection of children’s films, and timeless classics from renowned directors like Satyajit Ray and Guru Dutt.
Induction of Diversity at CIFF 2024
Notable films in the lineup for CIFF 2024 include the Holocaust drama The Zone of Interest, Palme d’Or winner Hirokazu Kore-eda’s Monster, last year’s best actor Oscar winner The Whale, and the acclaimed documentary Seven Winters in Tehran.
From India, features and documentaries like the Marathi film Sthal, Rima Das’ Assamese film Tora’s Husband, and Lijo Jose Pellissery’s Malayalam film Malaikottai Vaaliban are also part of the festival.

Centenary of Raj Kapoor and Dev Anand
CIFF has a special cinema exhibition to honor the 100th birthdays of Raj Kapoor and Dev Anand. It’s a unique experience created with the help of the National Film Archives and Chandigarh College of Architecture.
Celebs to Attend CIFF 2024
Stars like Richa Chadha, Ali Fazal, Roshan Mathew, Gulshan Devaiah, and others are expected to grace the event. The festival’s main venue, Government Museum & Arts Gallery, Sector 10, hosts open-air screenings for the opening and closing films, as well as classics like Satyajit Ray’s Jalsaghar and The Godfather Coda: The Death of Michael Corleone.
Opportunities at CIFF 2024, Chandigarh
The festival aims to provide a platform for audiences and producers, featuring a CIFF/market to facilitate the business and craft of filmmaking. Over 15 curated projects by creators with a strong presence in the Indian film industry will be presented, accompanied by workshops, master classes, and panel discussions.
Dept. Of Tourism Chandigarh and Administration on CIFF 2024
The event is supported by the Government Museum & Art Gallery, Chandigarh, Department of Tourism Chandigarh, and Chandigarh Administration. CIFF 2024 is directed by retired IAS VS Kundu, former head of the National Films Division of India, with industry veteran Bina Paul serving as the artistic director. Kundu expressed the festival’s significance as a global-scale event, fostering business relationships and making it an annual highlight for the film industry. Meanwhile, Paul emphasized the festival’s aim to bring a mix of cinema to Chandigarh, catering to diverse tastes and age groups.
