Randeep Hooda’s directorial debut film Swatantrya Veer Savarkar will hit theatres in March. The first glimpse of the film has been released through a trailer launch. The film based on history showcases a controversial freedom fighter VD Savarkar and his struggle for independence.
The film features most of the known leaders from the time like MK Gandhi, Bal Gangadhar Tilak, BR Ambedkar, Jinnah, Nehru, and many more. The film will bring back the memory of the struggle for independence with the Britishers and the skirmish among the leaders. In the war of independence, the communities of India betted against each other and suffered from communal disturbances. The intrigues and details discussed in the film will keep us captivated till the end.
The trailer shows the differences between the ideology of VD Savarkar and Gandhi. It also showcases Savarkar fighting for undivided India and unity among communities. Also, the film unfolds new aspects, about which, most of us are unaware, one of them includes the Britishers’ plan to bring back the sultanate regime after leaving India, triggering Savarkar to go against the plan. Here he’s seen protesting against the sultanate rule.

The film Swatantrya Veer Savarkar stars Ankita Lokhande as the Wife of VD Savarkar played by Randeep Hooda himself. Amit Sial also plays an important role in the film. the film will be released in two languages – Hindi and Marathi.

The film has been Produced by Zee Studios, Anand Pandit, Sandeep Singh, Randeep Hooda, and Yogesh Rahar, it is co-produced by Roopa Pandit, Sam Khan, Anwar Ali, and Panchali Chakraborty.
More than a biopic of Savarkar, this film will be another attempt to present history with another perception where VD Savarkar takes center stage. But how much it matches with reality has to be seen in the coming times. The film is scheduled to be released on 22nd March.
