Dev Patel portrays Kid, an anonymous young man scraping by in an underground fight club. Night after night, he wears a gorilla mask and endures brutal beatings from more popular fighters, all for some cash. Fueled by years of suppressed rage, Kid discovers a way to infiltrate the city’s sinister elite. His mysteriously scarred hands become the catalyst for an explosive campaign of retribution, settling scores with those who robbed him of everything.

The Hollywood studio Universal Pictures unveiled the official trailer, which showcases Patel’s intense fights in the ring, hand-to-hand combat with Kher, and a John Wick-style confrontation with multiple criminals.

Inspiration Behind the Making

Monkey Man takes inspiration from the legendary tale of Lord Hanuman and unfolds in the bustling city of Mumbai. The movie follows Kid, a man seeking vengeance against corrupt leaders responsible for his mother’s murder and the ongoing oppression of the poor.

The film cast includes Sobhita Dhulipala, which will be Sobhita’s Hollywood debut film, Vipin Sharma, Ashwini Kalsekar, Adithi Kalkunte, Sikandar Kher, Pitobash, Makarand Deshpande, and Sharlto Copley, along with Dev Patel.

The Team

Notably, Thunder Road Films, a producer of the John Wick franchise, is also involved in bringing Monkey Man to life. Dev Patel serves as a producer alongside Jomon Thomas, Oscar-winning filmmaker Jordan Peele, Win Rosenfeld, Ian Cooper, Basil Iwanyk, Erica Lee, Christine Haebler, and Anjay Nagpal.

Dev Patel, the creative force behind the film, developed it from his original story and co-wrote the screenplay with Paul Angunawela and John Collee. The narrative delves into Kid’s journey, marked by childhood trauma, as he seeks justice and retribution against a corrupt system.
