Rashmika Mandanna gained a lot of attention for her role in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s film ‘Animal’. She portrayed the character of Rannvijay’s wife, played by Ranbir Kapoor. One scene in particular, the Karva Chauth sequence, drew considerable criticism when the trailer was released.
Rashmika’s portrayal of anger in that scene sparked trolling on social media, with some questioning her acting abilities. However, after the film’s release, the same scene became one of the most discussed moments.
Speaking on the talk show No Filter Neha, Rashmika addressed the trolling she faced prior to the film’s release. She expressed her initial confusion and self-doubt triggered by the negative reactions to the trailer.
Rashmika recounted, “During the filming, everyone on set praised the nine-minute-long Karva Chauth scene. However, when the trailer came out, I faced severe trolling for a specific dialogue in that scene. It made me wonder if I had misjudged the scene’s impact. People only saw those 10 seconds.”
She emphasized the importance of staying grounded and connected to reality amidst fame. Rashmika clarified the criticism regarding the film being misogynistic, stating that it centered around a specific character’s extreme actions driven by familial loyalty.
Despite the controversies, ‘Animal’, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, became a blockbuster, grossing over Rs 900 crore worldwide. A sequel titled ‘Animal Park’ was announced, with Rashmika Mandanna set to reprise her role.
