“Paying homage to the 59 innocent people who lost their lives in the Godhra train burning incident 22 years ago, Today” is the caption of the clip released yesterday by the makers of the film The Sabarmati Report.

The new clip of the film came out on Tuesday. The Sabarmati Report is a film that recites the incident that happened near the Godhra railway station on the Sabarmati Express in the Indian state of Gujarat on the morning of 27 February 2002.

The Sabarmati express train with a compartment of 59 karyasevaks coming back from Ayodhya was voluntarily put on fire. The doors of the compartment were closed. They were set ablaze and turned into ashes. But the incident, then quoted as an accident, led to the Gujarat Riots of 2002 and a far-fetched investigation into the issue. The movie will try to unravel those untold details on the screen.

The film, Starring Vikrant Massey, The lead star of the super hit film 12th Fail and Raashii Khanna, is all set to get into the theatre on 3rd May 2024.

The film is directed by Ranjan Chandel and co-produced by Shobha Kapoor, Ekta Kapoor, Amul V Mohan, and Anshul Mohan. ‘The Sabarmati Report’ stars (12th failed actor) Vikrant Massy, Ridhi Dogra and Raashii Khanna in lead roles.

The Role of Vikrant Massey in the Film

The actor Vikrant Massy played the role of the Hindu journalist Samar Kumar in the movie. The clip of the movie which closes with the text “27th February 2002, Godhara, Gujrat. A homage to the 59 innocent lives burned to death. 22 years two official reports & multiple investigations later, The Sabarmati Report,” that was recently released, shows Vikrant Massey playing the role of Samar Kumar, sitting in a studio and making announcement on February 27, 2002 when, the event the train burning incident, took place in the Sabarmati express. But he stops while reading as the bulletin calls the incident an accident. To which he responds that it was not an accident.

This clearly shows that there’s a lot yet to be explored in the film. It is speculated to be a successful film as the masses are excited. It’s the first time the industry has covered the incident.
