Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the Musahar caste during his recent Mann Ki Baat address. The Musahar community in Bihar has historically faced marginalization due to socio-economic backwardness. Despite their struggles, they have not received the recognition they deserve in Bihar. During his address, Prime Minister Modi specifically mentioned journalist and social worker Bhim Singh Bhavesh, a resident of Ara in Bhojpur district.
Bhim Singh Bhavesh is a respected journalist and writer who has dedicated more than two decades to advocating for the Musahar community. When contacted by the News 18 team, Bhavesh expressed his disbelief and gratitude at being mentioned by Prime Minister Modi. He recounted his journey, stating that his commitment to serving and uplifting the Musahar community began in 2003 when he visited a Musahar Toli in Jawahar Tola, Arrah, for reporting. Witnessing their living conditions deeply moved him, prompting him to pledge himself to their cause.

Over the years, Bhim Singh Bhavesh’s efforts expanded, with him establishing the Nai Asha organization to support Musahars’ upliftment. Through his initiatives, he has provided employment opportunities to numerous Musahar youth in both government and non-government sectors. Remarkably, many youths from Musahar Tola, under his guidance, have successfully passed their Matriculation and Intermediate examinations, achieving academic milestones they once thought impossible. Bhavesh expressed his gratitude for Prime Minister Modi’s acknowledgment, stating that it has renewed his dedication to his cause.
Bhim Singh Bhavesh’s contributions extend beyond employment assistance. He has organized 109 health camps across different Musahar hamlets in Bhojpur district, providing medical treatment to over 17,000 individuals. Additionally, he has facilitated the adoption of 39 orphan children into families and secured pensions for over 3,200 people. His organization continues to work tirelessly for the development of Musahar communities in five villages.
Furthermore, Bhavesh is a prolific author, having written several books, including one on the aspirations of Musahars. His exemplary efforts have earned him recognition and awards from various institutions.
