Black Day in Korea: Korea is a cool country! It has a festival on the 14th day of every month. Koreans celebrate Valentine’s Day on 14 February, when women would gift chocolates to men. Following Valentine’s Day, we have the White Day, which is celebrated on March 14th. On White Day, men return gifts(take note of the s in gifts) to the women threefold.
As the country has so many love-themed celebrations, there was a sincere need to show care to the single population, too. Thus, the Black Day in Korea came into existence.
What is Black Day in Korea?
Celebrated on March 14 every year, Black Day is the day for singles to celebrate being single. All these people would dress in black, wear black accessories, and go out to eat some jjajangmyeon, which are black bean noodles.
Many activities like jjajangmyeon eating contests, matchmaking services, and buying gifts for yourselves, etc are a part of the “celebration” of Black Day.
