South Icon Allu Arjun Opens Up About Avoiding Bollywood: Allu Arjun, currently immersed in the promotions of his much-awaited movie Pushpa: The Rule (Pushpa 2), made a surprising statement at the pre-release event in Mumbai. The actor, adored nationwide, admitted that he never wanted to act in Hindi films. His revelation left fans curious about the reasons behind his decision.
“I Wanted to Take It to Another Level”
Talking about the massive success of Pushpa: The Rise and his National Award win for Best Actor, Allu Arjun said,
“It’s an honor to receive a National Award for this film. Before Pushpa 1, I told Sukumar sir that I wanted this film to be recognized at the highest level. I wished to achieve a National Award for it, and he promised to make it happen.”
He credited Sukumar’s dedication, stating,
“Sukumar sir worked tirelessly to create a movie that would make everyone believe I deserved the award. It’s even more special because, in the last 69 years, no Telugu actor has won this award. This achievement is unforgettable.”
Why Bollywood Was Never an Option for Allu Arjun
The superstar explained why he initially avoided working in Bollywood films, sharing his early conversations with Pushpa 1 music director Devi Sri Prasad.
“We both hail from Chennai. I always told him how difficult it would be for me to do Hindi films. He could work as a music director in Bollywood, but he never wanted to. He often asked me, ‘Why don’t you try Hindi films?’ and I replied, ‘I will never do Hindi films because it seemed too difficult at the time.’”
“It Was a Big Deal Back Then”
Recalling the era when Bollywood felt like a distant dream, Allu Arjun added,
“Back then, doing a Hindi film was a huge deal. We would feel lucky if we could manage to do even one or two Hindi films in a lifetime. Reaching where we are today is monumental for me. Winning the National Award alongside DSP for a superhit album in the same film is an extraordinary accomplishment.”
