Bollywood actress Bipasha Basu has been away from films for a long time. But the actress often remains in the media headlines. Bipasha and her husband Karan Singh Grover welcomed their daughter Devi last year after six years of marriage. At the same time, now the actress has revealed that her daughter had a hole in her heart.
The actress has revealed during a live chat with Neha Dhupia that her daughter Devi had two holes in her heart. She has been suffering from Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD) since birth. Devi had surgery after three months. Describing her pain, the actress said, “Our journey was completely different from that of normal parents.
This is much harder than the smile I have on my face right now. I wouldn’t want this to happen to any mother. On the third day after my daughter’s birth, I came to know that there were two holes in her heart. I thought I wouldn’t share this, but I’m sharing it because I feel like there are so many moms who have helped me on this journey.”
Bipasha Basu further said that as soon as she and Karan learned about this, they were deeply shocked. He said that we did not tell our family about this. The actress said, “We did not understand what VSD is. It is a ventricular septal defect. We went through a terrible phase. We did not discuss this with our family. Both of us went completely blank. We wanted to celebrate, but we were numb. The first five months were difficult for us, but Devi has been fantastic from day one.”
The actress further said that due to the size of the hole, Devi had to undergo surgery within three months. He said, “We were told that we have to undergo scans every month to know whether it is healing on its own or not, but because of the size of the hole, we were told that surgery was necessary and it was best to do the surgery then It happens when the child is three months old. How can you do open heart surgery on a girl? You feel very sad and burdened by this.”
Describing her pain, Bipasha further said that Karan and I waited for the baby to recover naturally. However we did not get any results in the first and second months, after which Bipasha decided that she would get her daughter’s surgery done, but her husband Karan was not ready for it. But in the end, Karan agreed to it and Devi’s surgery lasted for 6 hours. The surgery proved successful and now Bipasha’s little angel is fine.
