Diljit Dosanjh’s Fiery Video Goes Viral: Punjabi singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh is making headlines after a viral video surfaced, where he candidly addressed a government notice that restricted him from singing songs about alcohol. The controversy stems from an event in Hyderabad, where the Telangana government reportedly issued him a notice ahead of his concert, warning him not to perform any songs related to alcohol.

During a recent show in Gujarat, Diljit took the stage to express his frustration, making bold remarks that not only grabbed attention but also raised important questions about societal norms and government policies.

What Did Diljit Say?

Addressing the audience, Diljit said,
“Today, I’m thrilled to announce that I haven’t received any notice. And yes, I won’t be singing any songs about alcohol here either, because Gujarat is a dry state. I’ve sung countless devotional songs, but no one ever talks about them. Yet everyone on TV keeps discussing the ‘Patiala peg.’ Why?

The singer didn’t hold back and continued,
“An anchor on TV said that if an actor promotes something, they’re criticized, but a singer gets famous for their songs. Let me clarify – I’ve never called anyone to say, ‘Hey, have you had your Patiala peg?’ I simply sing. Bollywood has thousands of songs about alcohol, but I only have two or three. Yet, I won’t perform them because I don’t even drink myself.”

A Call for Action

Diljit went a step further, challenging societal norms and the government,
“Bollywood actors endorse alcohol, but I don’t. Don’t drag me into this. Let’s start a movement: if all Indian states declare themselves as dry states, I promise never to sing about alcohol again. Can this happen? It’s a huge revenue source, and even during the pandemic, liquor stores were the only ones open. Stop fooling the youth.”

He added a tongue-in-cheek suggestion,
“Declare a dry day wherever my shows happen, and I won’t sing about alcohol. Simple as that.”

Diljit’s Stand Sparks Debate

The viral video has sparked discussions online, with many appreciating Diljit’s stand against the hypocrisy surrounding alcohol promotion. Fans lauded his candidness and willingness to change his setlist to align with his values.
