Renowned filmmaker Guddu Dhanoa, known for movies like Deewana and Salaakhen, recently made a striking statement about Diljit Dosanjh and Sunidhi Chauhan. In an interview with Friday Talkies, Dhanoa subtly expressed his disappointment, stating that fame often changes people.
Dhanoa, who gave Diljit his first break in The Lion of Punjab, refused to talk about the actor-singer when asked. Instead, he simply said,
“People change after becoming famous.”
He further revealed that Sunidhi Chauhan, who once respected him deeply, now ignores his calls. Recalling an incident from the past, Dhanoa said,
“I remember when we were shooting for Bichhoo, a young Sunidhi sang ‘Ek Vari Tak Le’ for the film. She even touched my feet out of respect. But now, she doesn’t even answer my calls.”
Not Everyone Changes
While expressing his disappointment, Dhanoa also praised certain Bollywood stars for staying grounded. He mentioned Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Vidya Balan, Akshay Kumar, and Sunny Deol as examples of celebrities who have remained humble despite their massive success.
For those unaware, The Lion of Punjab marked Diljit Dosanjh’s debut as a lead actor in Punjabi cinema and was also Dhanoa’s directorial debut in the Punjabi film industry. Despite being a remake of the 2003 Tamil film Dhool, the film failed at the box office. However, its soundtrack, especially “Lak 28 Kudi Da”, became a massive hit.
