Hudson Joseph Meek, known for his role as the younger version of Ansel Elgort’s character in the 2017 hit Baby Driver, has tragically passed away at the age of 16.

Meek died on December 21, 2024, following a devastating accident on December 19 in Alabama. According to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, the actor sustained blunt force trauma after being thrown from a moving vehicle. He was rushed to UAB Hospital but passed away two days later. The incident is under investigation by local authorities.

The actor’s family shared the heartbreaking news on his Instagram account, saying, “Our hearts are broken to share that Hudson Meek went home to be with Jesus tonight. His 16 years on this earth were far too short, but he accomplished so much and significantly impacted everyone he met.”

A celebration of his life is scheduled for December 28, with details about a memorial scholarship at Vestavia Hills High School, where he was a sophomore, to be announced.

In addition to Baby Driver, Meek had roles in MacGyver, Found, and The School Duel. He was also a football player at Vestavia Hills High School. Friends and family remember him as a vibrant personality, quick-witted, and always eager to make others laugh.

His talent agency, J Pervis Talent Agency, paid tribute, saying, “Hudson was more than just a talent. He was a source of inspiration and touched so many lives with his enthusiasm, kindness, smile, and innate ability to light up a room.”

Hudson is survived by his parents and older brother.
