Reese Witherspoon is embarking on a new chapter of the ‘Legally Blonde’ franchise by launching an open casting call for the role of a young Elle Woods in the upcoming prequel series, ‘Elle.’ The series aims to explore the high school years of the beloved character, shedding light on the experiences that shaped her into the iconic figure fans adore.

Announced in May 2024, ‘Elle’ is a collaborative effort between Witherspoon’s media company, Hello Sunshine, and Prime Video. The series will delve into Elle Woods’ teenage years, offering insights into her early life before she became the fashion-forward lawyer known for her wit and determination.

Witherspoon’s inspiration for this prequel stemmed from the success of shows like ‘Wednesday,’ which explore the formative years of iconic characters. She expressed excitement about the project during an appearance on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,’ stating, “I thought, wouldn’t it be great to see Elle in high school?”

The casting call is open to aspiring actresses who can portray a high school version of Elle Woods. Submissions are being accepted through a dedicated website, with applicants required to perform selected scenes and provide a video introduction. The production is scheduled to begin in March 2025, and the series will be available for streaming on Prime Video upon completion.
