Salim Merchant Condemns Pahalgam Attack in Emotional Video: Bollywood singer and music composer Salim Merchant has strongly condemned the recent Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir. Joining the voices of many celebrities expressing grief and outrage, Salim posted a heartfelt message on social media, followed by a detailed video where he shared his pain and discussed the true teachings of Islam and the Quran.

On Wednesday, Salim initially shared a written post expressing his sorrow over the attack. Later, he uploaded a long video on Instagram, voicing his anguish over the violence and the misuse of religion. In the video, he boldly stated, “These killers are not Muslims. They are terrorists.” He backed his statement by quoting the Quran and highlighting how Islam is a religion of peace.

“Ashamed as a Muslim,” says Salim Merchant

In the Instagram video, Salim said,

“Innocent people in Pahalgam were killed just because they were Hindus, not Muslims. Are the killers Muslims? No, they are terrorists, because Islam does not teach this.”
Quoting the Quran, he said,
“In Surah Al-Baqarah, Ayat 256, it is clearly mentioned that there is no compulsion in religion.”

He added,

“As a Muslim, I feel ashamed to see this day—where my Hindu brothers and sisters were brutally murdered simply because of their religion.”

Prayers for the Victims and Their Families

Visibly emotional, Salim said,

“When will this end? The people of Kashmir were starting to live in peace again, and now this… I can’t express my sorrow and anger. I bow down and pray for the innocent lives lost. May God give strength to the families. Om Shanti.”

His video received overwhelming support from netizens. Many praised his courage and honesty in speaking out against such acts of violence and standing in solidarity with the victims.

Before posting the video, Salim had written:

“There are no words to ease the pain, no justice swift enough to erase this horror. We mourn those we have lost and grieve for the ones left behind.”

Background of the Attack

On April 22, a terrorist attack shook Pahalgam, targeting tourists in broad daylight. At least 26 people were killed, and several others were injured. The horrific event has sent shockwaves across the nation, and the Indian government is actively pursuing those responsible.
