In a shocking incident that has sparked outrage across Odisha, a 45-year-old theatre actor, Bimbadhar Gouda, was arrested after committing a gruesome act on stage while performing as a demon in a Ramayana play. The event unfolded in Ralab village, situated in the Hinjili police station area of Ganjam district, on November 24.

According to police reports, Gouda dramatically ripped open the stomach of a live pig during the performance and consumed its raw meat as part of his act. This horrifying act stunned the audience and led to widespread condemnation, not only in the public domain but also within the state assembly on Monday.

The incident has raised serious concerns about animal cruelty and violations of the Wildlife Protection Act. Alongside Gouda, one of the organisers of the play has also been arrested for their involvement in this shocking display.

This gruesome episode has reignited debates on ethical practices in theatrical performances and the necessity of stricter regulations to prevent such incidents in the future.
