‘Emergency’ Gets CBFC Clearance: The buzz around actress-filmmaker Kangana Ranaut’s movie Emergency has been on the rise. The film, which explores a controversial chapter in India’s history, is now officially approved by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) for release. Mark your calendars as Emergency is set to premiere on January 17, 2025.

Shreyas Talpade Shares His Happiness

In a recent interview, Shreyas Talpade, who plays a significant role in the movie, expressed his delight. He said:
“I am very happy that ‘Emergency’ has finally received approval. It is a meaningful film made with great passion and effort by Kangana. While the financial struggles and setbacks have been tough for the makers, the film deserves to reach the audience. I am eagerly looking forward to its release as it is a brilliant piece of work.”

Controversies Surrounding the Film

Earlier this year, Sikh organizations, including the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) and Akal Takht, raised objections to the movie. They alleged that the film portrays Sikhs negatively, demanding an immediate ban. The CBFC responded by pausing the release to address these concerns, forming a review committee to recommend cuts and necessary amendments.

On September 30, during a Bombay High Court hearing, advocate Sharan Jagtiani, representing Zee Entertainment, informed the court that Kangana Ranaut had agreed to implement the suggested changes. This agreement paved the way for the CBFC to grant the certificate after making the necessary edits.

The movie’s music is composed by Sanchit Balhara and G.V. Prakash Kumar, with production jointly handled by Zee Studios and Manikarnika Films. Initially slated for a September 6, 2024, release, the film will now hit theaters on January 17, 2025.
