Well-known actress Nimrat Kaur, who was seen in films like Airlift and Dasvin, was only 11 years old when her father was murdered by terrorists. Nimrat’s father Bhupinder Singh was Major, who was posted in Kashmir before his martyrdom.

Nimrat Kaur revealed in an interview that in 1994, terrorists had kidnapped her father from his workplace in Kashmir and demanded the release of the terrorists. A week later, Nimrat Kaur’s father was murdered. After 30 years, a memorial has been built in honor of the martyr Major, which has been inaugurated by his family.

Memorial built in honor of father

Nimrat Kaur has shared photos of her father’s memorial inauguration, in which she is standing near the memorial and posing with her mother and sister. She is also seen in a picture with army officers. While sharing these photos, Nimrat Kaur has written a heart-touching note.

Nimrat’s dream came true

He said, “Today on Papa’s 72nd birth anniversary, Mom, my sister, and I inaugurated a memorial in his name, honoring the supreme sacrifice for the nation not only by him but by 12 other brave soldiers from Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan. A dream of mine and my family since we lost him 30 years ago in Jammu and Kashmir in 1994 has finally come true.”

Got emotional talking about my father

The Lunch Box actress further wrote, “I am deeply grateful for the tireless efforts and support of the civil administration in close coordination with the local army personnel deployed here. Papa was the son of the soil, born in a farmer family in Mohanpura village. He led, lived, and died with fearlessness and fierceness till his last breath. Today I cannot express in words that I am standing on this earth, How proud I am to see his name and life story immortalized at his birthplace, inspiring today’s and future generations.”
