KBC 16 celebrated its 50th episode with Vidya Balan and Kartik Aryan. They came to promote their film Bhool Bhulaiya 3. They donated their winning amount to the Hamara Foundation and Tata Memorial Hospital.

Big B praised Vidya Balan’s acting and recalled watching her in Parineeta. He shared, “The first time I saw you was during the screening of Parineeta, and I was sitting with some big bigwigs and Karan Johar was one of them. I told him, ‘Iss ladki ko jaldi se sign karo, yeh bahaut badi kalakar ban ne waali hai.” He also revealed that he was so moved by Vidya’s acting that he even asked the director, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, “Kaise dhundha inko?”

Kartik Aryan narrated how he came to the industry. He said, “Coming from a family of doctors, I couldn’t express that I didn’t want to become a doctor or an engineer, but I tried to reach Mumbai and purposely cleared all the exams of colleges in Mumbai or close to Mumbai. I got admission to DY Patil College. My parents thought I was studying BIOTech there but I was going for auditions.”

He revealed that only after he got the Pyaar Ka Panchnama he disclosed his desire to act. Explaining this he said, “Jab meri pehli film Pyaar Ka Punchnama ka audition crack hua tab maine Mom and dad ko bataya that I wanted to be an actor. I remember it was a very emotional moment. Maine rote rote Andheri station par tha wahan se call kiya tha maine. Wahan se local train leta tha main jaane ke liye. Main toh ro raha tha mummy bhi rone lagi achanak se. Woh bhi shock mein aagaye kya bol raha hai mera beta.”

He added, “Just two days later, my mom and maasi (aunt) were sitting in director Luv sir’s office. I was performing a romantic scene, and they were watching it on the laptop.” Kartik Aaryan reflected, saying, “That’s when my journey truly began. Whenever I did bag a project I always felt it is their loss, not mine. There was never overconfidence, this thing gave me strength, it empowered me.”

Kartik’s mother humorously added, “”Woh (Kartik) wahan ro raha tha ke project mil gayi, main yahan ro rahi thi kyun mil gayi hai..Tu doctor ban jaaye toh accha hai. Aaj tak yehi lagta hai sir doctor yaa engineer ban jaata toh settled life hojaati, abhi bhi struggle life hai with each movie.”  Kartik’s father revealed that the actor had been admitted to a medical college but even he was not willing to make his son a doctor which left Kartik’s mother shocked. However, the actor’s father revealed he did not have a bank guarantee to give and hence the admission was canceled.

While discussing 60s and 70s actresses Mr. Bachchan shares interesting anecdotes. They talked about the film, Sahib Bi Aur Gulam, and expressed his disappointment of not getting a chance to act with Meena Kumari. He said, “I never got the opportunity to work with Meena Kumari ji. In Sahib Biwi Aur Ghulam, there’s a song- Na jaao saiyaan where she performed so gracefully that I found myself watching her continuously. “

Praising the actress he said, “The art of sitting in one place quietly, singing the song and coupled with her radiance, the effects used to be marvellous. They used to take long shots back then and I think that was the beauty of it all. Unlike today, every shot ends in just a few words. And Waheeda Rehman Ji, she is my absolute favorite actress.”

He also talked about a particular iconic close-up shot of the film Pyaasa with Waheeda Rehman. He expressed his admiration about the shot and said that it perfectly captured exquisite emotion and artistry, and he also revealed that they shot the in two or three takes whereas it all happens quickly these days.

The episode has Dance, fun, life stories, entertaining anecdotes everything.  The celebration was hit.
