Arjun Sen’s Inspiring Journey: From a Grim Diagnosis to Resilience

Arjun shared a moving account of his journey. Diagnosed with a life-threatening illness and given just 100 days to live, he initially struggled with the weight of the news. He explained that he used to love talking but the diagnosis left him wondering about the given to him, “Chatter box”. This incident led him to write the story of this film, ‘I want to Talk’. Days of darkness passed until a simple conversation with his young daughter brought light. She asked him questions that sparked a purpose in him. Her curiosity about his life, death, and whether he would be there to dance at her wedding became his motivation to fight. He shared that she was just 3 when she asked such questions and now she is 31. Decades later, Arjun is still waiting for that dance, a testament to his strength and determination.

Abhishek reflected on the emotional depth of the story, revealing how it touched his heart as a father. He explained that the bond between fathers and daughters carries a unique strength and emotion that resonated deeply with him and his co-stars. Ahalya Bamru, who plays the daughter in the film, expressed her gratitude for being part of such an inspiring story. Discovered on Instagram, Ahalya brought her vivacious energy to the role, making her a perfect fit.

Shoojit Sircar’s Nostalgic Return to KBC

Shoojit Sircar, whose career began with KBC in 2000, shared a nostalgic connection to the show. Back then, he worked as an online director under Siddharth Basu. Returning as a guest years later, he reflected on how life had come full circle.

Abhishek Bachchan disclosed that Shoojit Sircar never gave him a narration of the story of the film. He only gave him insights on Arjun’s life and that compelled him to do the role. He reflected on being a girl’s daughter. He said the promise Arjun made to his daughter resonated most with him. Abhishek also remarked that Arjun had 20 surgeries to recover.

Shoojit also highlighted Abhishek’s dedication to his role in the film. Gaining weight for authenticity, Abhishek relied on bhujiya snacks instead of prosthetics. In a humorous moment, he described his boarding school habit of “drinking bhujiya” from a glass, which had the audience laughing.

Abhishek and Amitabh Bachchan’s Playful Banter Lights Up the Episode

The episode also showcased the playful relationship between Amitabh and Abhishek. The father-son duo engaged in a lighthearted competition, with Abhishek asking Shoojit to settle who was the better Bachchan. Questions ranged from punctuality to coolness, with the audience enthusiastically cheering for Big B. Shoojit Sircar remarked that Abhishek is always on time and he might have got that quality from Big B only. When the audience declared Amitabh as cooler, Abhishek jokingly conceded, referencing Amitabh’s iconic line, “Jahan khade hote hain, line wahi se shuru hoti hai.”

The camaraderie extended into playful teasing about clothes and shoes. Abhishek shared a memory of his grandfather’s wisdom about fathers and sons evolving into friends after a certain age. Turning the tables, he humorously questioned his father about borrowing his belongings, prompting a witty response from Amitabh that had everyone in splits. Abhishek started praising his shoes later confirming that it was his shoes. Amitabh Bachchan wittily asked him not to snatch little things left with him.

The evening was a delightful blend of emotions. Arjun’s story brought inspiration, Shoojit’s reflections added nostalgia, and the Bachchans’ banter delivered laughter. The episode celebrated resilience, family, and the joy of shared memories, leaving viewers with a warm and uplifting experience.
