In a candid conversation on Sorabh Pant’s podcast, Joshi also addressed the controversy surrounding his once-iconic dialogue, “Aye Pagal Aurat.” The line, which was initially a spontaneous reaction during a scene with Daya, became widely popular. “On set, I improvised the ‘paagal aurat’ phrase based on how Daya reacted,” he explained, recalling how it was a natural, humorous response to the moment. However, despite its comedic intent, the dialogue eventually faced backlash.

Joshi acknowledged the objections raised by certain groups, particularly those advocating for women’s rights. “Baad mein, uspe kuch women’s lib ya koi movement tha, mujhe bataya gaya, ‘Aage se, aap yeh nahi bolenge’,” he recalled, referring to the decision to ban the line. Although the remark was delivered in a light-hearted spirit, its potential to offend led to its discontinuation.
