The iconic television series CID has returned to the small screen, sparking waves of excitement and nostalgia. The much-loved crime drama has brought back its original trio—Shivaji Satam, Dayanand Shetty, and Aditya Srivastav—adding a delightful familiarity to the thrill of its new season. Fans eagerly anticipate the dynamic onscreen camaraderie between the characters, especially the bond shared by Daya and Abhijeet, which has often drawn comparisons to legendary duos.

In an exclusive chat, Dayanand Shetty, who plays Senior Inspector Daya, responded to the comparison of his and Aditya Srivastav’s bond to Sholay’s Jai and Veeru. “The friendship between Jai and Veeru is iconic. Comparing us to them is a compliment. Friendship is natural, and that’s what makes it special,” he shared, expressing gratitude for such recognition. He emphasised the enduring chemistry within the cast, stating that the team has been together for over two decades, which speaks volumes about their mutual respect and bond. He stated, “Normally, aap serials mein dekhlo 6 mahine baad, ye chali gayi, wo chali gayi, because of internal quarrels, yaha par wo nahi hain.”

Aditya Srivastav, who portrays Senior Inspector Abhijeet, echoed similar sentiments. He described the team as a family, emphasizing the camaraderie they share off-screen. Aditya acknowledged Dayanand’s caring nature, mentioning how he looks out for everyone, from lunch orders to overall well-being. Reflecting on this bond, he remarked, “Having a team like this is pure luck. We’ve built something unique over the years.”

Shivaji Satam, fondly remembered as ACP Pradyuman, highlighted the absence of ego within the group. “We truly function as a family. That’s the reason we’ve lasted so long,” he said, referring to their shared understanding and mutual support. Dayanand added that Shivaji has always been the guiding figure in their team, much like a family head.

Discussing the show’s revival, Dayanand revealed how fans manifested its return through social media campaigns. He acknowledged the audience’s affection for every character in CID. “People connect with us not for our looks but for our sincerity. We’ve always been hard-faced but soft-hearted,” he remarked humorously. He also shared his astonishment at discovering that notable personalities, including singers, actors, and politicians, are fans of the show. “It’s humbling to know we’ve reached so many hearts.”

Shivaji shared a poignant moment when fans expressed how the show’s comeback felt like reliving their childhood. He noted that childhood memories are deeply cherished, and CID being part of those memories is a privilege for the cast. Dayanand emphasized that their team’s dedication struck a chord with viewers, making the show a timeless favorite.

Aditya spoke about the exclusivity of their work. He explained that they avoid other TV projects to maintain CID‘s distinctiveness, only taking on meaningful roles in films when offered. Addressing rumors of rejecting big banner offers, he admitted that opportunities do come his way, but his loyalty to CID often takes precedence.

The cast also fondly remembered the late Dinesh Phadnis, who played Freddy, acknowledging his absence as deeply felt within their close-knit team. Shivaji compared the loss to losing a family member, a sentiment shared by all.

CID 2 premiered on December 21, 2024, airing on Sony TV every weekend. For fans, this comeback is not just a show but a cherished reunion with their favorite crime-solving family.
