Elvish Yadav and Rajat Dalal have found themselves in the middle of controversy after their remarks on their chat show, The Little Adda Company, sparked outrage. Their comments about Bigg Boss 18 finalist Chum Darang have led to widespread criticism, with many accusing them of racism. The backlash erupted after a video surfaced in which Elvish appeared doubtful about Karan Veer Mehra’s admiration for Chum. In a tone filled with skepticism, he questioned whether Karan had COVID. What further angered viewers was his remark about Chum’s name, suggesting it sounded inappropriate.

As soon as the video made its way onto social media, it ignited a storm of reactions. Many people condemned the offensive statements, calling them outright derogatory. Fans took to various platforms, tagging ministers from Northeast India, urging them to take strict action against the racist remarks. The criticism only grew stronger as viewers recalled past instances where individuals from the Northeast have faced discrimination.

Elvish and Rajat themselves acknowledged that racism against people from the Northeast is common across the country. This only fueled the backlash further, as many pointed out the hypocrisy of recognizing the issue while contributing to it at the same time. Chum had previously spoken about facing such discrimination on national television. She had shared the pain of being called ‘coronavirus’ during the lockdown, highlighting the prejudice Northeastern people frequently endure.

Adding to the controversy, YouTuber Manu Punjabi also mocked Chum, making the situation even worse. Many users slammed the platform for airing such insensitive content. Criticism was not limited to just the hosts. Fans also targeted Bigg Boss and its associated channels for repeatedly inviting Elvish and Rajat despite their problematic behavior.

People across social media platforms did not hold back their anger. A user expressed their disgust, urging everyone to tag North Eastern leaders and demand strict action. Another pointed out how Indians strongly react when racism happens abroad but fail to acknowledge it within the country. Frustrated fans condemned Elvish, with one stating that he never knows when to stop and calling his behavior absolutely shameful. Another user demanded that ColorsTV stop featuring individuals who promote such toxicity. The outpouring of outrage continued, with many demanding accountability and action against the derogatory remarks.

The controversy has once again brought to light the deep-seated biases and prejudices that Northeastern people continue to face. Many hope that this incident serves as a wake-up call and pushes for real change in how such issues are addressed in the entertainment industry.
