Bollywood director and television personality Farah Khan has found herself in legal trouble following a controversial remark she made on the reality show Celebrity MasterChef. The statement, which has now gone viral, has sparked outrage and led to a criminal complaint against her.
During an episode of the show, Farah made a comment about the festival of Holi, stating that it was a favorite among “chaapri log.” The term “chaapri” is often used in a derogatory manner, implying someone flashy or lowbrow. Her words did not sit well with many, and social media users quickly condemned her statement. The backlash intensified when Bigg Boss 13 contestant and social media influencer Vikas Fhatak, popularly known as Hindustani Bhau, took legal action against her.
According to reports, Hindustani Bhau filed a complaint at Khar Police Station, accusing Farah of disrespecting a sacred festival and hurting religious sentiments. His lawyer, Ali Kaashif Khan Deshmukh, stated, “My client believes that Farah Khan’s comment was not only disrespectful but also has the potential to create communal disharmony. Using the term ‘chhapris’ to describe a sacred festival is highly inappropriate.” He expressed concern over how a widely celebrated festival was portrayed in such a manner.
A copy of the complaint has surfaced online, revealing that Farah has been booked under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 196, 299, 302, and 353. In the complaint, it was mentioned that Farah’s remarks had deeply hurt the sentiments of many in the Hindu community. The plea called for immediate legal action against her for making an irresponsible and inflammatory statement.

Farah Khan has not yet responded to the controversy, but as discussions around the issue continue to spread, several public figures have weighed in. Bigg Boss 18 contestant and politician Tajinder Bagga also voiced his disapproval, calling her statement disgraceful on social media.
The matter continues to escalate as people demand an explanation from the filmmaker. While some argue that her words were taken out of context, others insist that such remarks should not be made on public platforms. With legal proceedings underway, all eyes are now on how Farah will address the situation.
