Kaun Banega Crorepati, a stage to foster dreams and inspiration for many to lead a better life. The masti and wisdom both takes centre stage with the host Mr. Bchchan.
The latest episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati 16 featured Ravi Kumar, a Signal Maintenance worker from Rajasthan, whose heartfelt story touched the audience. During his interaction with host Amitabh Bachchan, Ravi shared the harsh realities of life in his village, where the scarcity of water forces them to buy it daily just to survive. He used this opportunity to request Mr. Bachchan to appeal to the government to address the water crisis in their region.
Ravi, one of four siblings, opened up about his upbringing. He revealed that neither he nor his elder brother truly experienced the affection of their parents, as they were constantly busy earning a livelihood to support the family. Despite their struggles, his parents made every effort to provide him with an education. To ease the financial burden, Ravi and his elder brother moved out and started living separately, taking on jobs to contribute to the family’s income.
Ravi recounted a particularly challenging time for his family when his father, who worked as a labourer, suffered an accident at a construction site and broke his hand. For six months, the family was without income, which plunged them into debt. Now, Ravi is determined to ensure his father’s well-being by providing him with the necessary medical care.
As the game progressed, Ravi shared more about his personal life. He mentioned that he had taken a Rs 7 lakh loan, which added financial pressure as he prepared for his upcoming wedding in November. He expressed the challenges of arranging a simple village wedding, which costs around 5-6 lakh rupees. With a smile, he extended an invitation to Mr. Bachchan, saying, “Sir, you are invited.”
Ravi also discussed his love for films, especially his admiration for Ranbir Kapoor’s action sequences in Animal. He recounted how he enjoyed watching Ranbir’s performance in a theater, enthusiastically recalling the “firing scene” as “ek number” (top-notch). When Mr. Bachchan inquired if he truly liked the film, Ravi responded, “Haan sir aur aapki bhi Shahensha movie bahut pasand aayi thi, woh bhi ek number.” He even humorously reenacted one of Bachchan’s famous hand gestures from the movie, bringing a light moment to the show.
Reflecting on his humble beginnings, Ravi shared how his family, once financially weak, lived in a kaccha (mud) house without a TV. To watch new films, they would visit a neighbor who had a strict guest list for movie nights. He recently saw Mr. Bachchan’s film Kalki: 2898 and excitedly called it “super duper blockbuster,” much to Mr. Bachchan’s delight. The heartfelt exchange between the two was a memorable moment on the show, as Ravi’s journey resonated with many.
After this wonderful and exciting journey, he took home 12,50,000.
